dr Agnieszka Brandt-Talbot
dr Agnieszka Brandt-Talbot is a Leader of Sustainable Carbon Solutions research team in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London. On top of that she is a co-founder and the Director of the start-up company Lixea. Lixea is developing an innovative biomass fractionation process using low-cost ionic liquids.
In terms of numbers, she has authored 32 scientific articles with more than 4000 citations and holds 5 licensed patents (h=24).
Dr Brandt-Talbot’s scientific research interests focuses on creating bio-derived materials and chemicals from sustainable biomass and the application of novel tailor-made solvents for more sustainable use of carbon in our economy.
We are delighted to have such distinguished researcher as our Keynote Speaker, especially considering her success in the application of ionic liquids in the industry and creating well-established start-up company, with funding from European Union (Horizon 2020) for over 3 million euros! dr Nicholas Gathergood
dr Nicholas Gathergood is from the University of Lincoln where he holds the Associate Professor in Chemistry position. After getting his Phd, he enjoyed post-Doc life, having been employed at several different Universities, including Aarhus University (Denmark), Deakin University, Geelong and the Victorian College of Pharmacy, Melbourne (Australia). More recently, he was ERA Chair of Green Chemistry at Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia).
In terms of numbers, he has authored 94 scientific articles with almost 5000 citations (h=34)
Dr Gathergood’s scientific research interests include green synthesis of antimicrobials and analgesics, green toxicology and biodegradation.

dr Marco Haumann
Dr Marco Haumann is head of Hybrid Materials (HyMat) for Catalysis and Purification research group at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He is also an Editorial Board member for Journal of Ionic Liquids (Elsevier).
In terms of numbers, he has authored 112 scientific articles with more than 3600 citations (h=32).
Dr Haumann’s research interests are focused on the development of hybrid material for catalysis and separation, including e.g. supported ionic liquid phase (SILP) and supported catalytically active liquid metal solutions (SCALMS).

Profesor Senentxu Lanceros-Mendez
Profesor Senentxu Lanceros-Mendez is a Scientific Director at the BCMaterials, Basque Center for Materials, Applications and Nanostructures in Leioa, Spain. He also holds an Associate Professor position at the Physics Department of the University of Minho, Portugal (currently on leave).
In terms of numbers, he has authored 769 scientific articles with more than 21 000 citations (h=68)! Professor Lanceros-Mendez also co-authored several patents, co-edited four books, and four spin-off companies have been developed from his group.
His work is focused in the area of smart and multifunctional materials for sensors and actuators, energy and biomedical applications.
He graduated in physics at the University of the Basque Country, Leioa, Spain and obtained his Ph.D. degree at the Institute of Physics of the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany.
We are delighted that the Materials scope will have such tremendous scientist as a Keynote Speaker.

Dr Anna Martinelli
Dr Anna Martinelli holds an Associate Professor position at Chalmers University of Technology, in the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department. She is Italian, but almost all her research has been done in Göteborg, Sweden. She enjoyed two Post-doctoral positions, one at University La Sapienza in Rome, Italy and the second at Grenoble Institute of Technology, in the LEPMI laboratories (France).
In terms of numbers, she has authored 63 scientific articles with more than 2000 citations (h=25).
Dr Martinelli leads a research group focusing on ionic liquids and their energy application. Her scientific interest focuses not only on pure ILs but also in the ionic liquids derived materials, such as nanoporous gels and polymer electrolytes. Her group also studies the ionic liquids behaviour at liquid/solid interfaces as well as the dynamics of ions and protons.
Dr Anna Martinelli holds (and has received) research grants from, among others, the the Hasselbald Foundation, the Chalmers Areas of Advance (Materials Science & Energy), Formas, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), the Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation and the Swedish Research Council (VR).
We are excited that at the AGCHem 2022 she will be a Keynote Speaker for the electrochemistry scope, discussing the applications of ionic liquids in this field.

Professor Isabel Marrucho
Professor Isabel Marrucho has a full professor tenure at Chemical Engineering Department at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal), as well as holds the position of a vice president of the Department.
In terms of numbers, she has authored 266 scientific articles with more than 17 000 citations (h=73)!
Professor Marrucho conducts her research at Centro de Química Estrutural, where she is the coordinator of the thematic line SUSChem, Sustainable Chemistry for Environment, Energy and Manufacturing.
Her main scientific interests lie in the application of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, showing their versatility, from industrial applications in azeotrope breaking, to the energy field, in diesel deep desulfurization and biohydrogen production, and in environmental, micro-pollutants extraction from water environments, and biological areas, purification of virus. On top of that, her group is working on designing new advanced materials that display simultaneously ionic liquids appealing thermophysical properties and polymer mechanical properties.

Professor Qamar Abbas
Professor Qamar Abbas holds an Associate Professor position at the Graz University of Technology, in the Institute for Chemistry and Technology of Materials. He is currently a Lise Meitner fellow, and leader of FWF and FFG-funded projects. From 2011 to 2019, prof. Abbas was scientific assistant at the Poznan University of Technology (Poland) where he is now a faculty member at the Faculty of Chemical Technology.
In terms of numbers, he has authored over 60 scientific articles with more than 1800 citations (h=18).
His research interests include Hybrid Supercapacitors, Electric double-layer capacitors, Battery electrodes, Ionic Liquids, Water-in-Salt Electrolytes, Nanoporous Carbon Materials, Graphene, Eco-friendly Energy Storage, and Iodine Electrochemistry.

Professor Rafal Lukasik
Professor Rafal Lukasik is a Head of Biorefineries for the Bioenergy R&D Area of Bioenergy and Biorefineries Unit at National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG) in Lisbon, Portugal. He was a Marie Curie Fellow in the Queen’s University Ionic Liquid Laboratories Research Centre, UK (2003), and in the Institute of Experimental Biology and Technology, Portugal (2005-2007).
In terms of numbers, he has authored 106 scientific articles with more than 6400 citations (h=39).
In 2008 he received the Junior Award for Excellence in Thermodynamics. In 2013 Green Project Award for the Integrated Valorization of Residues and Sub-Products of Olive Oil Extraction Project and in 2014 he has been awarded the Innovation for Sustainability Award.

Dr Michal Borysiewicz
Dr Borysiewicz is the Leader of Porous Materials Research Area a the Łukasiewicz-Research Network - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics. His research interests include the development of nanoscale functional thin film materials and their integration with devices for electronics, optoelectronics, energy storage and sensors. The two main areas of work concern: dense thin film materials with various degrees of nanoscale complexity (epitaxial, polycrystalline, inclusion-in-matrix, amorphous, etc) as well as porous crystalline thin film materials including inorganic porous metal and metal-oxides, MXenes and MOF films.
Over 60 articles, Over 800 times cited h=14, leader of EU, NCBiR and NCN-funded projects, Co-author of several national and international patents.
